The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) is responsible for inspecting the standards of independent and state schools.
Ofsted recognises that Gillotts’ motto ‘lives strongly’
Ofsted published its report on Gillotts on 5 July 2012. The school was inspected on 13 and 14 June.
We are very pleased that Ofsted has recognised that Gillotts is a good school, in all that we do. The report confirms that, since the last inspection in March 2007, standards have risen, the quality of teaching has improved, and the quality of leadership of all staff has strengthened.
We are particularly pleased that the inspectors recognised the commitment that the students show to one another, and to building a safe and cohesive community. As the report says:
The school’s motto, ‘non nobis solum’ (‘not by ourselves alone’), lives strongly in students’ good behaviour, their commitment to one another and eagerness to achieve highly together.
The report recognises that there is much good practice in the school. Ofsted has challenged us to improve further by using this to strengthen the proportion of outstanding teaching and maximise the proportion of A* and A grades at GCSE. WE agree that these are the right ogals to work towards and we know that all staff are fully committed to achieving them.
We look forward to continuing to work with all our stakeholders in partnership as the school goes from strength to strength.
